Quick update on the EA challenge.
I’ve been forward testing the Dark Venus EA and the NS Financas EA for the last 2 days using a reverse trading approach.
Both EAs had bad backtest results, so I wanted to see if reversing the trades could make them profitable.
But the early forward test results were not good.
Most closed trades were making very small profits, many less than $1 on 0.01 lot trades.
After spreads and commission fees, the trades did not really make money.
Nor only that, the losing strategies in reverse were losing!
Even some winning trades were too small to cover the trading costs.
What I learned is that reverse trading only makes sense if the take profit is much bigger, so there is enough profit to cover spreads and commissions and still leave money left over.
I also realised I prefer testing EAs that already look promising in backtests and trading them normally instead of trying to reverse bad strategies. It just makes more logical sense to me.
So I’ve decided to stop forward testing both of these EAs and go back into research mode to look for better strategies with stronger potential.
Setbacks are part of the process. Every failed test gives more data, more experience, and gets us one step closer to finding strategies that actually work long term. The goal is not to avoid failure, it’s to keep learning, adapting, and moving forward.
