After a lot of testing and optimisation work, I’ve now created a Gold scalping version of the Dark Venus EA that is starting to look genuinely promising in backtesting.

For those who know the EA, you’ll also know its reputation.

Dark Venus is well known for wiping out entire accounts if left unchecked, which is exactly why I’ve been focused on trying to optimise it and rebuild it into something more controlled and stable.

Right now, the strategy passes 4 out of the 5 point backtest checks I’ve set for it, which are
– Profit factor – over 1.5
– Win rate  – over 50%
– Trades – over 100
– Equity curve – smooth gowing up
– max dd – over 20% – which fails here.

So the main focus now is further optimisation work to try and reduce the risk while keeping the performance strong.

Compared to the original behaviour of the EA, this version is already looking far more controlled.

If I can successfully optimise the drawdown side further, the plan is hopefully to launch it live on demo before the market opens on Sunday and begin forward testing.

Of course, I’m staying cautious.

Backtests are useful, but real market conditions are what really matter. A strategy can look incredible historically and still fail live, so the next stage will be important.

But overall, this is definitely the best Dark Venus setup I’ve built so far, particularly for XAUUSD.
